BIOGRAPHY Reza Aliabadi is an Iranian musician, researcher and soloist. He was born on September 29, 1987 in Tehran. His father’s friendship with great Tanbur masters such as the Seyyed Mansour Yari Shah Ebrahimi, Darvish Javanmir Manhoei Gurjoui and Seyyed Ahmad Hosseini made him acquainted with Tanbur and Maqami music from his childhood. His excessive interest in music led him to learn the Tanbur from the age of seven. He mentions master Seyyed Ahmad Hosseini and Darvish Javanmir Manhoei Gurjoui as the most influential people in his artistic and musical life. After receiving a bachelor’s degree in architecture, Reza Aliabadi entered the Faculty of Music of the University of Culture and Arts due to his intense interest in research in the field of music, and received his bachelor’s degree in music (Tar instrument). Mohammad Reza Lotfi and Amir Sharifi can be named as his most important masters in this period. His intense interest in research led him to visit great masters such as Kaykhosrow Pournazeri, Seyed Khalil Alinejad, Taher Yarvisi and Seyed Khiyal in order to study classical and maqami music. The result of his education and researchs has led to the publication of books in the field of music in recent years. He is the first person to consider Sol as the base note in his books. Nazm to Maqam , Forty fingering exercises for Tanbur , Traditional Maqams of Tanbur are among his published books. He has also released some albums including Formhaye Bi-payan (Endless Forms), Nazm-haye Tanboor (Tanboor disciplines) Tanideh dar Seda (Indulged in the sound) and many single tracks. In 2009, Reza Aliabadi decided to establish the Jami ensemble as a composer and group leader. This group held many concerts in Rudaki Hall, Milad Tower, Saad Abad Palace, etc., Furthermore he has also held several concerts of which the improvisation solo performance. He has been teaching music since 2001 and in 2016 he founded Aliabadi Music Academy. Currently, more than 80 students in Aliabadi music Academy are studying Iranian instruments.
